dad's bday gift

To me, it is always the hardest to get a birthday gift for my dad. because he does not lack anything, and seems to be very satisfied with what he has. well, maybe we can buy him something that is golf-related, but being very inexperienced in that hobby of his, we shall not take the risk. heh heh.

so we went down to buy all the ingredients and baked him a Chocolate Banana Cake, inspired by my sis's French Muffin recipe.

the first two small trial-outs went well.
using real bananas. and chocolate

can you see the chinese words "生日"(hidden among all the so-called patterns) and "爸" ? and his age? :) i did it!

but VERY EXTREMELY sadly,

it cracked and was over-baked, because it was still way beyond ready after the proposed baking time.

we din even take a photo of my dad cutting the cake and us singing the bday song. probably cos we (especially my sis) were too low after the failure haha.

but at least my bro liked it, and my mum requested for me to do my steamed egg cake on her bday. :) people do appreciate.
